How to identify a proper dog park location

New Park Development On mission gorge Road

Picture
G.H. Palmer Associates are developing a 22 acre site with 996 units along Mission Gorge Rd. in Allied Gardens. Part of this site is a 5.3 acre large park development, for which the developer is considering a dog park.

During an Allied Gardens Community Recreation Advisory Group Meeting on Aug. 3rd 2020, the developer was gathering community input in regards to the desired amenities. The community feedback was very clear about the need for a proper off-leash dog park and adequate parking for the park users.

On Oct. 5th, two design proposals were presented during the Allied Gardens Community Recreation Advisory Group Meeting. They both contained a dog park: one with 18,000sft (0.4acrs) one with 27,000sft (0.6acrs). The community again raised concern about the size of the dog park as well as parking.

As the community participation during these meetings is limited, a survey was initiated to provide further input in regards to the actual community needs in regards to park amenities. Please see below link to the results of this survey as of Nov. 9th 2020, at which point 348 participants were registered:
